In a Day in the Life activity, learners face challenging daily situations that require decisions based on a virtual patient's medical condition and surroundings. At crucial points in the simulation, a virtual doctor provides insight and guidance to help learners understand how to better manage the medical condition.
Our team has been working together, delivering exceptional educational programs, for more than a decade. Our passion for our work stems from a shared conviction that effective CME is vital to helping clinicians deliver the best possible care to patients, a belief that CME has not kept pace with advances in technology or clinicians' preferred models of learning, and a genuine enjoyment of working together.
Denise has over 13 years of experience in developing, designing, and delivering high-quality, clinically relevant content for educational initiatives. A natural leader with a collaborative style and a tireless work ethic, Denise has made a career of forging successful collaborations with all manner of educational partners. Her expertise in identifying clinical practice gaps and developing educational programs to close those gaps has enabled her to deliver consistently excellent and results-producing educational activities. Denise's areas of therapeutic expertise include hematology/oncology, endocrinology, and infectious disease.
Denise received a BA in biology from Hartwick College and a PhD in microbiology and immunology from the Medical College of Pennsylvania/Hahnemann University. She also completed a postdoctoral National Institutes of Health fellowship in the Department of Medicine, Division of Hematology/Oncology at the University of Pennsylvania.
In the few off hours she allows herself, Denise takes to the outdoors—the beaches of the Carolinas, the mountains of Glacier National Park, and the forests of the Adirondacks are three fave spots—with her dogs and a good pair of binoculars.
Jon plies 20+ years of experience in medical editing to ensuring the relevance, accuracy, and eloquence of everything that crosses his desk. His background in medical education is extensive and covers a wide range of therapeutic areas and media, including live, Web-based, mobile, and print (including several years with the Merck Manuals).
A graduate of Drew University with a BA in biology and writing (as well as lots of splinters from his time as a benchwarmer on the Drew baseball team), Jon is certified by the American Medical Writers Association (AMWA) and the Board of Editors in the Life Sciences (BELS).
After hours, Jon can be found in the stands at local (and some not-so-local) minor league or independent league baseball games, in his yard making up games with his highly spirited daughter, or at his desk drawing cartoons.
With more than 20 years of art and creative department leadership under her belt, Karen is a true design development connoisseur whose range encompasses multiple formats, platforms, and media. Projects with Karen’s signature designs have received numerous honors: in 2011 and 2012, Karen’s projects received four Health Information Resource Center Web Health Awards recognizing the nation’s best digital health resources. Her activities have also been nominated for Global Awards, one of the world’s largest and most coveted health care communications awards.
Karen earned a BFA in communication design from Kutztown University, and she regularly visits her alma mater to assist students with their portfolios and provide career counseling.
When she’s not developing breathtaking designs, Karen keeps busy playing with her beautiful daughters and applying her creative talents to interior design and cake decorating.
Projects entrusted to Karen could not be put into better hands. With more than 18 years of experience overseeing and managing CE activities under her belt, Karen has the skills, dedication, and work ethic to ensure the on-time delivery of excellent educational initiatives. Karen has an unfailing ability to keep the needs and objectives of all stakeholders top of mind while developing educational activities, and her attention to detail is unparalleled (her note-taking skills are a source of admiration—and good-natured teasing—around the office).
Strongly committed to staying on top of CE trends and developments, Karen is a mainstay at the meetings and webinars of the Alliance for Continuing Education in the Health Professions, the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and International Association for Continuing Education and Training (IACET)…to name a few.
Off the clock, Karen spends her time root root rooting for the home (Philadelphia!) teams, reading, cooking, and enjoying her children and eight grandchildren.
In the span of her 10-year career in medical education, Barb has established herself as a go-to resource for the delivery of unparalleled medical education. She has a talent for establishing efficient processes and managing day-to-day challenges, yet she never loses sight of the big picture. Barb’s teams are always armed and ready to deliver brilliantly conceptualized and flawlessly implemented educational initiatives that are on time, on budget, and to the highest professional standards. Seamlessly guiding her teams through collaborations with partners of all types, Barb anticipates the unique needs of grantors, universities, advocacy groups, accreditation organizations, and education management and outcomes data services providers.
Barb earned a BA (with honors) from Syracuse University School of Arts and Sciences. She also completed scrum master certification at Penn State.
Away from the office, your best bet is to look for Barb baking in the kitchen or working on imaginative crafts with her adorable kids.
